Leitrim County Council is currently in the process of developing its fourth Arts Strategy, and as part of the Creative Ireland programme, its first Culture and Creative Strategy. The arts plan will set out the strategy, policies and programmes for the development of the arts that Leitrim County Council will follow for the next number of years.
Creative Ireland is an all of government programme designed to facilitate an ecosystem of creativity from an understanding that engagement with the arts and culture enhances wellbeing and because culture and creativity are essential features of an innovative society.
Given that the Arts Plan shapes the direction of the council’s arts policy for the next number of years, and that the Culture and Creative Strategy will act in concert with Arts, Library and Heritage strategies for the same period, it is important that sufficient time and effort is given over to reviewing what we do, consulting with stakeholders and the general public and providing the opportunity for people to comment on plans for the future.
To start the process, Leitrim County Council will host a series of three public consultation sessions the first of which will be held in The Dock on Tuesday 25th July from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. The 2017 Creative Ireland Activation Plan for Leitrim will also be launched that evening.
The meeting is open to all, and we particularly welcome participation from those who work in the creative and culture & heritage sectors, members of community and voluntary groups and cultural organisations throughout the county.
Further meetings will be held in Manorhamilton and Ballinamore, but if you can’t make any of the meetings, we very much welcome written contributions by post or email to Leitrim County Council Áras an Chontae, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information contact Leitrim County Council on 071 96 21694 or email@example.com.
While prior booking isn’t essential, we would greatly appreciate if those interested could contact us in advance so that we can accurately accommodate the numbers attending.
